Use case
HLS and OTT stream monitoring
Check that your HLS and OTT outputs really play, not only that the origin answers.
The problem
Why it happens
OTT delivery adds packagers, origins and CDNs between the encoder and the viewer. An HTTP 200 from the origin does not prove the stream has picture and sound, or that every rendition is being updated.
Sounds familiar?
- Apps show a spinning wheel on one channel
- A rendition stops updating while the others continue
- Customer complaints that differ from what the CDN dashboard shows
The KVARTA way
How we solve it
KVARTA stream monitors include HLS monitoring alongside TSoIP. The Multiview Stream Monitor accepts OTT inputs too, decodes them and checks for audio and video freeze. You see OTT and broadcast feeds on the same screen with the same alarms.
What is checked
- HLS input monitoring
- Audio and video freeze on OTT
- Bitrate alarms
- E-mail and SNMP alarms
