Use case
IPTV multicast monitoring: CC errors, RTP errors and packet loss
Watch hundreds of UDP/RTP streams for loss, delay and bitrate problems.
The problem
Why it happens
IPTV and contribution networks carry hundreds of multicast streams. One misconfigured switch or congested link causes packet loss that only some subscribers see. Without per-stream measurements, finding the cause is guesswork.
Sounds familiar?
- Pixelation on some channels at peak hours
- Multicast groups that silently stop
- Bitrate spikes or drops after a network change
- Increasing stream delay before a full outage
The KVARTA way
How we solve it
The TV Stream Monitor watches up to 500 UDP/RTP unicast or multicast streams per receiver, in SPTS and MPTS. The Gigabit Stream Monitor does the same for up to 100 streams at a lower cost. Both measure stream delay, RTP errors, CC errors and bitrate, and raise an alarm when a stream crosses your limits.
What is checked
- RTP errors and CC errors
- Stream delay
- Bitrate limits per stream
- SPTS and MPTS, unicast and multicast
