Use case
Remote set-top box testing and end-user monitoring
See and control real STBs over the web, the way a subscriber uses them.
The problem
Why it happens
Network monitors measure streams, but subscribers watch through a set-top box, its app and its EPG. Many faults only appear at that last step, and testing them by hand does not scale.
Sounds familiar?
- “It works in the headend” but not on the customer’s box
- New firmware releases break channels or menus
- Engineers queue to use the one test box in the lab
The KVARTA way
How we solve it
The STB Monitor combines infrared remote control with an HDMI input. You can watch and drive a real IPTV, OTT or cable box from a browser with less than one second of latency. An optional 16-input HDMI switch covers up to 16 boxes. Freeze checks and automated test templates are available for regression testing.
What is checked
- Live video in the browser (<1 s)
- Infrared remote control
- Audio/video freeze checks
- Up to 16 STBs with HDMI switch
