Use case

RDS encoding with dynamic text, RT+ and ODA

Scrolling PS and RT, RT+, UECP and open data applications such as TMC.

The problem

Why it happens

Listeners expect song titles and station information on their radio, and some services, such as traffic messages, depend on RDS open data applications. Basic encoders do not support them.

Sounds familiar?

  • Static station name only
  • No song titles from the playout system
  • No way to send traffic or paging data

The KVARTA way

How we solve it

The RDS Encoder V4 supports all RDS/RBDS groups and is fully UECP compliant. It includes RT+, scrolling PS and RT, a scheduler, and all ODA applications such as TMC. You configure it through its web server, SNMP or four TCP/UDP command ports.

What is checked

  • All RDS/RBDS groups
  • UECP and ASCII commands
  • RT+ and ODA (TMC, paging)
  • Digital level and phase
